Listen

If for five minutes,

I could know your mind,

Could hear the whispering

Between mind and soul

Hear what you know,

Listen to the thoughts you hide.

I dare not judge,

I can not know.

Even in these quiet whispers,

How much good there is in you.

For I know not, and you the same,

Your acts, the words spoken aloud.

Each I can discern,

Whether they be good and true.

But from where each springs

I cannot say, good or ill

Without your mind and soul

In my heart to fill,

In my soul to live.

If I could for five minutes,

Hear all you think and feel;

Then,

I would cherish

Each shining pearl.
